Tricks

by Eric Martín

I build powerlines

        and other people’s roads

I’ve spent ages alone

          Take care of

          what you’re given

Take care of what you hold

       I’m the dragonfly

       I’m the greaseball

                of Catholic superdomes

Shut down all your car plants

Shut down your seascape homes

Love me sweet through the dark nights

and through the always morning rain

Elsewhere,

      Ever joyous tall grass

                runs drier

                          by

                              the day

             I’m the foothills

             I sunbathe

                     beneath peaks

                                  of

                               dispair

All of nature

      they beg

forgiveness

for all their buckles

as I beg, too
